![]() Don't be afraid to use balloons - they're useful. This cancels out torque which would otherwise cause your machine to spin uncontrollably. If your machine has multiple lifting rotors, have them spin opposite directions. So if you decide to use propellers you will have to balance your machine manually. Since propellers can be implemented in various ways you cannot place any numbers on them. They are much better at making control structures. Thus flying blocks are not recommended for generation lift. Combined with the fact that they are not always pointing upwards, flying blocks are prone to get into an unstable backwards and forwards rocking motion. However it is only easiest in the editor: while in simulation you will have to actively control your pitch.įor additional information go to Buoyancy.įlying blocks produce drag. The easiest way to control your altitude is to build a plane. There are 4 basic ways of achieving level flight: In order to go where you want, the center of thrust in a chosen direction should be on a single line with the center of mass of the machine.Īs usual in games like Besiege, if your machine starts to go crazy, placing a few braces will not hurt. You need to implement a way to control the motion of your machine. It worked (after a few tries), but thinking on it again (and after seeing your responses), it would have been easier and less complicated to work on a better flying machine. In order to get off the ground you need to make your total lift higher than your total weight. For the 4th one, I added a bomb and some springs to throw it upwards. ![]() It was less than ideal, as I then had to dodge falling, burning airship, but it worked for 3 of the 4. To deal with the airships on the next level, I took the same design and added some flamethrowers on up-extending pistons (set the flamethrowers to only be momentarily on). ![]() To deal with the explosives, I had a long forward-poking line of pistons (they are seemingly explosion-proof) long enough that the rest of my machine didn't catch fire. I think you are hinted to use a flying machine for the bird level I did two different ground-based machines successfully, one that raised a big bar covered in saw blades, and one that had flamethrowers on piston-towers of various heights. Yea - I should have continued with the flying machines after the scout-balloon mission, but my solution was super-janky, so I abandoned it for the 'proven' tank-based ground machines. Can't wait to see what the rest of the island looks like!Īnyone else played since the update? Hope to see Alex's take on the new levels some time soon! ![]() Thinking back on it this morning, I can see several different ways to complete some of the ones that took me a while it really seems to emphasize developing skills with flying machines (pretty much required in one case and much less.yak-explodey in others). Island #2 is definitely more challenging than the first, or at least challenging in a different way.
